Most websites have a frequently asked questions section, so fastletters.com are going to have one too!

Unfortunately, as at the time of creating this website, nobody had asked us any questions, let alone being asked questions frequently. So we’ve had to use our initiative and ask ourselves questions. Therefore the questions that follow are the ones we think people would most frequently ask.

When real customers start asking real questions, we will slowly replace these made up questions with real ones. The only problem with that of course is if the fabricated questions we have here are the same as the real questions people would ask, then they would have no need to ask them because the answers are already here. So it looks like these frequently asked questions will always be a fabrication! So we’re probably stuck with them. Doesn't it make you wonder how all the other websites got around this one?

What is a fastletter?

A fastletter is a cross between a greetings card and a traditional letter. It is created online quickly and easily and is then sent in the post in the usual way.

What will my fastletter look like?

Each fastletter is printed on high quality 170 gsm photo glossy paper in full colour before being carefully folded by hand and delicately placed into its' distinctive high quality canary yellow envelope. This envelope is then super sealed to the highest standards. A first class stamp is then affixed to the optimal location for peak postal performance. Each envelope is then hand-stamped with the fastletters.com mark of authenticity before the journey to delivery commences. Upon arrival, the delighted recipient will soon realise that their fastletter is designed to be displayed. This is done by folding it into the shape of a triangular prism, allowing the picture and caption to be seen. Meanwhile, the personal message lies face down on the chosen display area. This guarantees the secrecy of the communication. So that's what a fastletter looks like. Or would you rather see the fastletter display ?

Why send a fastletter?

Sending a fastletter shows that you care. You do care, don’t you? Even if you don’t care, the person receiving the fastletter will think that you do care, which may well be to your advantage.

Why send an anonymous fastletter?

Seems to create a lot of fun on Valentines day, so why not all year round? Sorry, shouldn’t answer a question with a question.

In the past, I have always bought my greetings cards from the major retail outlets in the high street, handwritten them out and sent them myself. Why should I change now?

Well, if you want to have to get in your car, drive to town, find a parking space, find the greetings card shop, choose the greetings card you need, pick it up with an envelope that matches, go the queue, stand in the queue, get to the front of the queue, hand over a fiver, get your change, go and find a post office, get into another queue, purchase your first-class stamp, lick the stamp, put it on the envelope, take the whole lot home, go the kitchen drawer, take out your biro, fill it in by hand, pop it all into the envelope, stick it down, trudge to the nearest post box,  before finally, (at last!) posting it, then please carry on as you are. Alternatively, use fastletters and complete the task in less than five minutes without getting off your butt.

How are fastletters posted? (Delivery)

All fastletters are posted via the Royal Mail with a first-class stamp. Letters are posted on the date that you specify when you create the letter. We need to have received the letter by 5 pm (UK time) at the latest for it to be posted by 6 pm.

Will I receive confirmation that my fastletter has been sent?

Yes. You will be asked to give us your email address so that we can let you know that your fastletter has been processed. However, you can rest assured that we will not be bombarding you with special offers or reminders to use us every week, nor will we be letting anyone else know your address for them to do the same. We wouldn’t mind being allowed to send you the odd reminder now and then (no more than once a month, honest) for things like Mothers Day or Valentines. Imagine the kids running into the bedroom and waking you up at 6am shouting “Daddy, Daddy, it’s Christmas” and you’d completely forgot. With fastletters we won’t let that happen. You can always unsubscribe.

I’m 82 years old and have eleven sisters and six brothers and trying to remember all their birthdays is becoming hard. How can fastletters help?

You can now log on to fastletters  and send each of your eleven sisters and six brothers their birthday greetings in one sitting. Simply specify on each fastletter  the date that you want it to be sent and we will send them on that day. Once done, sit back, relax and forget about all those brothers and sisters and all those bothersome birthdays for a whole year.

Can you tell me more about the payment methods?

Yes, we accept all major debit and credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, JCB and Switch. All processing is done through a Company called SecPay who specialise in taking payments on the Internet only. None of the staff at fastletters.com ever get to see your card details nor are your card details stored on any of our computers. When you give your card details you are dealing direct with SecPay, and as all they do for a living is process credit and debit cards for Internet transactions, I wouldn’t mind betting that they have some sort of super dooper whizzy encryption system that stops naughty people getting hold of your details. So we think it’s pretty safe.

I am a Luddite, suffer from paranoia and trust no-one. Can I pay by cheque?

Yes you can. The minimum order by cheque is for four fastletters, priced as shown on the Home page. Cheques should be sent to the address detailed on the Contact Us page. You must write your email address on the back of the cheque so that we can email you your code to activate your fastcredits.

I am a bad credit risk so I don’t have a credit or debit card. Can I pay by cheque?

Yes you can, see previous question for details. We will, of course, wait for the cheque to clear.

I am a model citizen of society, my credit is good so I do have credit cards, I am not paranoid, I am not a Luddite and I do tend to trust people. Can I pay by cheque?

Well, we don’t see why you should. It’s much quicker and easier with a card why make it difficult for everyone? Why? Why?  ……….Oh, all right then. See the previous previous question.

Can I send the same message to different people?

Yes, if you want to send the same message to lots of people, write the message in notepad first. Then simply copy and paste this into the message area of each fastletter. Great for parties, weddings, thank-you notes and organising Military coups. Copy and paste is also a good idea if you want to take time composing your message offline. If the words copy and paste and notepad mean nothing to you, then please ignore this section. You'll have enough problems to deal with, having just got your computer.

I do not live in the UK. Can I still use fastletters.com?

Yes you can and at times it can be very beneficial to do so. For example, if you live in the United States and you need to send a letter quickly to someone living in the United Kingdom, then fastletters will very likely get that letter delivered the very next day. Anywhere in Europe, it will probably be delivered in two to three days, as It will be sent by airmail.

Can I send a fastletter to anywhere in the world?

Yes you can. The prices quoted are for anywhere in the whole wide world. We even splash out on an airmail stamp. So, for example, a fastletter to the USA should arrive in about 4 or 5 days. What could be better? Sure beats writing a note, bunging it in a bottle and chucking it in the sea.

Can I write anything I like?

fastletters are printed, folded, placed into their envelopes, sealed and posted. They are not read, edited or censored in any way. Therefore you can write anything you want and it will be sent. But be warned. If we receive any complaints from anyone who receives a fastletter because your message is threatening or offensive or obscene or something else that we haven’t thought of, then it is very likely that the sender has committed a criminal offence. If you send a fastletter that is likely to lead to a complaint, expect to be tracked down and possibly charged.

What kind of pictures or images can I send in a personalised fastletter?

You can upload any picture or image that is on your computer. The sort of pictures we had in mind are of grandchildren smiling that can be sent to Grannie. It would be illegal for us to send any picture that breaks the law. For this reason uploaded pictures ( just the picture not the text) are looked at before being posted. If you feel the urge to send any picture or image that contravenes the Obscene Publications Act it will not be sent and no refund will be available. So, keep it legal, that’s all we ask.
